My name is Danni and I am a postpartum doula in Boston, owner of A Hand at Home.
“A postpartum what?!” I know, it’s a strange term that you’ve only heard with the word depression right after. Postpartum simply means, “Following Birth”. “And aren’t doulas those people who help you during labor?” They are! But not this one!
We like to think of ourselves as personal assistants for families with new babies. We are professional caretakers, trained in all things baby. Here to answer your questions, take care of you, and relieve the stress of having a newborn in the home. We come in at a time of need and leave when things are calm again.
We provide help of all kinds to people who have just had a baby. Our focus is to make sure you, as new parents, feel confident and successful- however that may be. One day we may teach you diapering, swaddling, and soothing techniques and the next day we cook some meals, do laundry and watch the baby while you sleep. Need help with breastfeeding? Need help with older children? Need someone to organize your nursery and all those gifts that are coming in? We do all of that too!
Our day to day work changes, but it is our goal to help you feel yourself as quickly and as smoothly as possible, so that you can enjoy this new addition to your life! This blog will provide insights from our day to day work as postpartum doulas and will also provide baby product reviews, from our point of view.
